Introduction to TCM

TCM is also known as Traditional Chinese Medicine is one of the oldest modes of healing treatment capture in history. It has a record of over 2000 years, adopting acupuncture and herbal remedies. The concept is built on balancing Yin & Yang, the harmony between the five-element) & Jing-Qi Theory

Yin Yang

Yin & Yang is known as opposing energies. Through TCM, we strive to achieve an equal balance of both energies for an ideal state of harmonized being. Yin, the dark, peaceful and cool side, is also known as a feminine energy. Yang ,the bright, active and warm side, is our masculine qi. While opposite, yin and yang do not exist independently of one another.

The Five Element

The five element (wood, fire, earth, metal, and water) exist in different aspects such as Organ System and Seasons. These elements can correlate to specific organs, or even specific mental states to help dictate areas that need to be restore and strengthened.

These elements also help to determine the way that TCM may diagnose a disease or imbalance. We may experience an overwhelming excess of “damp” or “heat,” meaning we need to reduce our elements of fire or water in order to regain harmony among these element.

The Jing-Qi-Shen Theory

TCM holds fast to medicinal elements in nature for treating the body and the spirit as a whole holistic approach. The “Qi” vital energy is known as our energetic force responsible for the way we move and function. The “Jing”, Essence is seen as the basis of growth. Lastly, “Shen” is Mind is responsible for the mental health of one.
